How this service works
- 01
Step 1: Submit your request
Complete the appointment request form and securely upload your genetic testing report.
- 02
Step 2: Report review
Reports are reviewed to determine whether they are appropriate for consultation through Open Helix Health.
- 03
Step 3: Schedule and pay
If appropriate for review, you will receive scheduling instructions and payment information.
- 04
Step 4: Consultation
We review your results together, discuss what they may mean, and outline recommended next steps when appropriate.

Some situations may require follow-up with the original ordering clinician, a medical geneticist, or another specialty provider. Submission of a report does not guarantee that a consultation will be scheduled.
Payment information
Open Helix Health is a self-pay practice and does not currently bill insurance for consultation services.
Payment is due at the time of booking.
HSA & FSA
HSA and FSA cards are accepted for eligible services.
Many patients are able to use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for consultations related to medical, diagnostic, or preventive care, including inherited risk assessment, family history concerns, and genetic testing guidance.
Because plan benefits vary, we recommend confirming eligibility directly with your HSA/FSA administrator.
Testing Cost
Genetic testing costs are separate from consultation fees and billed directly through the genetic testing laboratory.
Many patients qualify for insurance coverage for testing when personal or family history suggests testing may be medically appropriate.
Depending on the laboratory and test selected, self-pay pricing and financial assistance options may also be available.
Whenever possible, estimated testing costs are reviewed before testing is ordered so you can make informed decisions with confidence.
